The Estes Sidekick, an Ingeniously Engineered Dual-Bodied Rocket
The Estes Sidekick, a remarkable model rocket, stands out from the crowd with its ingenious design that seamlessly combines two of almost every essential component. This Advanced-level rocket boasts a single airframe with two body tubes, two nose cones, two engine mounts, two recovery systems, and two sets of laser-cut balsa fins. Custom-cut, card stock body tube joiners meticulously connect the two halves of this exceptional two-part flyer.
Remarkably, the Estes Sidekick is not just a visually striking model; it is also an excellent performer in the air. Designed for clustered engine launches, this rocket is capable of reaching awe-inspiring heights of up to 700 feet or more, powered by the combined thrust of two side-by-side Estes B6-4 engines. The dazzling recovery phase is a sight to behold, as the 36-inch twin mylar streamers deploy at ejection, gracefully guiding the model back to the ground.
Both expert and beginner model rocketeers will relish the challenge of building the Estes Sidekick. Precision construction is a must for this non-standard design, but the end result is well worth the effort. Finish your Estes Sidekick with the included yellow and orange, water-slide flame decals, and prepare to turn heads at the launch field.
The Estes Sidekick is not your average model rocket. It is a masterpiece of engineering that offers an unparalleled flying experience. From ignition to touchdown, the flight of this dual-bodied rocket is a captivating display that should not be missed. Don't delay – seize the opportunity to double the excitement and light up the sky with the dynamic dual delights of the Estes Sidekick!
To build the Estes Sidekick, you'll need a selection of tools and supplies, including scissors, pencil, ruler, fine sandpaper, yellow glue, plastic cement, sanding block, hobby knife, masking tape, clear tape, primer (white), paint (black, orange, yellow), and clear coat (optional). For launching, you'll require an Estes Porta-Pad II Launch Pad with a 1/8 inch launch rod, an Electron Beam Launch Controller, Estes model rocket engines, starters, and recovery wadding. Additionally, four 1.5V high-quality AA alkaline batteries are needed for the launch controller.
The Estes Sidekick is recommended for rocketeers with Intermediate skills or above, as it presents a more advanced model rocket design and techniques. The projected altitude for this rocket is an impressive 700 feet (213 meters), and the estimated assembly time is approximately 2 hours.
Estes model rocketry is designed for boys and girls ages 10 and up, with adult supervision recommended for those under 12. Rocketeers of all ages can enjoy the thrill of launching and watching the Estes Sidekick take to the skies.
