NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) is designed to utilize proven rocket technology and existing resources. The SLS utilizes modified Space Shuttle main engines for its central core stage and Space Shuttle derived solid rockets for the outboard boosters. The NASA SLS Block1 is capable of generating 8.8 million pounds of thrust at liftoff, allowing it to carry the Orion crew vehicle, an upper stage booster, and four astronauts all the way to lunar orbit and back.

The SLS, along with the Orion crew vehicle, are key components of Project Artemis, the NASA program aimed at landing the first woman and the next man on the moon within the next five years. It is designed as a modular system of components, stages, and payloads to fulfill multiple roles in the course of Project Artemis. Future versions of the SLS will launch landers and cargo to the moon and, eventually, to Mars.

The Estes 2206 Estes NASA SLS 1:200 scale replica model portrays the Project Artemis Block 1 configuration, the first in the proposed series of heavy lift launch vehicles. Launching the Estes NASA SLS 2206 model rocket is easy. After attaching the included transparent fins and loading the Estes C6-3 engine, users can expect spectacular launches up to 350 feet, followed by a graceful return to Earth under a colorful 15-inch parachute. The rocket looks impressive whether counting down on the launch pad or displayed on a shelf. In between launches, the rocket can be displayed with its own custom clear fins, which can double as a display stand.

Taller than the Statue of Liberty and with more thrust than the mighty Saturn V, NASA's SLS is set to take humanity back to the moon and on to Mars. This highly detailed scale model is ready to launch and perfect for beginners.
